These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of SugarLock, a mobile application operated by Rudeus LLC ("we," "our," "us," or "Company"). By downloading, installing, or using SugarLock (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using SugarLock, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the App. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, and such modifications will be effective immediately upon posting.

2. Description of Service

SugarLock is a gamified digital wellness application that helps users manage screen time by connecting app usage to physical activity. The app offers two quest modes:

2.1 Food Quest Mode

Users take photos of their meals to create quests. Apps remain locked until they walk a certain number of steps during a 3-4 hour window after eating.

2.2 Daily Quest Mode

Apps automatically lock at midnight. Users progressively unlock them throughout the day by reaching step goals for each app.

Key Features:

Self-imposed app blocking (NOT parental controls)
Food photo capture (optional, for Food Quest mode only)
Step counting via HealthKit integration
Quest-based unlocking system
Emergency override phrase for urgent access
Subscription-based premium features

Target Audience: Adults managing their own screen time, particularly those interested in digital wellness, post-meal walking for health benefits, gamified habit building, and self-control tools.

3. Medical Disclaimer

IMPORTANT MEDICAL DISCLAIMER:

SugarLock is NOT a medical device and is NOT intended to:

Diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition
Replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
Provide medical or health-related recommendations

The App provides general wellness tools for digital wellness and physical activity. Walking recommendations are for general wellness only. The information provided by SugarLock should not be considered medical advice.

Always consult with a qualified healthcare professional:

Before making any changes to your diet or exercise routine
If you have any medical conditions or concerns
If you are taking medications that may be affected by physical activity
For any questions about your health or medical condition

Do not disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of information provided by SugarLock.

4. Self-Control Tool, Not Parental Controls

SugarLock is designed as a self-control tool for adults managing their own screen time. It is NOT intended for:

Parental control or monitoring children
Employee monitoring or surveillance
Monitoring or controlling others' devices

Users voluntarily lock their own apps and set their own step goals. This is a personal wellness tool for self-management, not for controlling others.

5. Eligibility and Account

5.1 Age Requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to use SugarLock. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent's or guardian's permission to use the App.

5.2 No Account System

SugarLock does not require user accounts. All data is stored locally on your device. You are responsible for:

Maintaining the security of your device
Setting reasonable step goals for yourself
Using the app safely and responsibly

6. App Functionality and Limitations

6.1 App Blocking Feature

SugarLock's app blocking feature:

Requires appropriate device permissions (Screen Time API on iOS)
May not work with all apps or in all circumstances
Is provided "as is" and may have limitations or interruptions
Should not be relied upon for critical or emergency communications
Effectiveness depends on iOS Screen Time API - users can disable restrictions through iOS Settings if needed

6.2 Food Photo Recognition (Food Quest Mode Only)

The food photo recognition feature:

Uses on-device CoreML (Food101 model) for visual categorization only
Does not provide nutrition analysis or medical information
Is for informational purposes only - helps categorize meals for quest creation
May not be accurate for all foods or meal combinations
Photos are stored locally on your device only

6.3 HealthKit Integration

HealthKit integration:

Requires your explicit permission
Only reads step count data (we do not write to HealthKit)
May be affected by device settings or HealthKit permissions
Accuracy depends on your device's sensors and settings
Step data is stored locally on your device only

6.4 Emergency Override

SugarLock includes an emergency override feature:

Users set their own emergency override phrase during setup
This phrase can be used to bypass app locks in urgent situations
Important: We cannot recover this phrase if forgotten
Users are responsible for remembering their emergency override phrase

7. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

Set reasonable step goals that are safe and achievable
Use the app safely - do not walk in dangerous conditions (e.g., busy roads, unsafe areas) just to unlock apps
Not use the app while driving or in situations where it could be dangerous
Use the app as a self-control tool for your own device only
Not attempt to circumvent app locks through unauthorized means
Remember your emergency override phrase (we cannot recover it)

8. User Conduct

You agree not to:

Use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
Violate any laws in your jurisdiction
Use the App to monitor or control others' devices without their consent
Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or hack the App
Use automated systems to manipulate step counts or quest completion
Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 Our Rights

The App, including its design, features, content, and functionality, is owned by Rudeus LLC and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

9.2 Your Content

You retain ownership of content you create (e.g., food photos, quest settings). Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over your content. By using the App, you grant us a license to process your content solely to provide the App's services on your device.

10. Subscription and Payment

SugarLock offers premium features through subscriptions:

10.1 Free Trial

3-day free trial period
Trial automatically converts to paid subscription unless cancelled
You can cancel anytime during the trial period

10.2 Subscription Plans

Weekly: $4.99/week (or current pricing)
Yearly: $39.99/year (or current pricing)
Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends

10.3 Payment Processing

Payment is processed through the Apple App Store
We do not store payment information (handled by Apple)
Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID

10.4 Cancellation

To cancel your subscription:

Go to iOS Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions
Select SugarLock
Tap "Cancel Subscription"
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period

10.5 Refunds

Refunds are subject to Apple's refund policy
Contact Apple Support directly through the App Store for refund requests
We reserve the right to change pricing with notice

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

SUGARLOCK IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND
WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT
WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES
WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY HEALTH-RELATED OUTCOMES RESULTING FROM USE OF THE APP
WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INJURIES OR ACCIDENTS THAT OCCUR WHILE USING THE APP
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP (IF ANY)

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Rudeus LLC, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

Your use of the App
Your violation of these Terms
Your violation of any rights of another party
Any health-related decisions made based on App information
Injuries or accidents that occur while using the App

13. Termination

13.1 By You

You may stop using the App at any time. You can delete all app data by deleting the app from your device. Cancel any active subscriptions through iOS Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.

13.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without notice, for:

Violation of these Terms
Fraudulent or illegal activity
Any other reason we deem necessary

14. Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. Please review our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Key point: All data is stored locally on your device - we don't have servers that store your personal data.

15. Third-Party Services

SugarLock integrates with third-party services, including:

Apple HealthKit (for step counting)
Apple App Store (for subscriptions and payments)
Apple Screen Time API (for app blocking)
CoreML (for on-device food recognition)

Your use of third-party services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

16. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by:

Posting updated Terms on our website
Updating the "Last Updated" date
Including a notice in the app (for significant changes)

Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

17. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

17.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

17.2 Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through:

Good faith negotiation
If negotiation fails, binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association
You waive your right to a jury trial and class action lawsuits

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

19. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Rudeus LLC regarding your use of SugarLock and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
